Open House and Tour at Macon Water Authority Facility
Macon Water Authority will be hosting tours of their Water Treatment Plant in celebration of National Drinking Water Week. Before I get into all the information, I wanted to tell you that my boys and I went to this last year and really enjoyed it. They offer a tour of their facility, a van tour of the grounds, refreshments, and take-home goodies for the kids. Of course, they may not do all of that this year, but I really do suggest you check it out. If nothing else, the grounds and the building are beautiful, and the employees were so welcoming. Here is the information from their website –
The MWA will be celebrating national Drinking Water Week (May 1-7, 2016) with an Open House at the Amerson Water Treatment Plant, located at 703 Riverbend Drive, on Thursday May 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the Open House, guests will be able to learn about the drinking water treatment process at the MWA while touring the award-winning Amerson Plant, which is a four-time winner of the Plant of the Year in Georgia. Admission is free and refreshments will be offered. Drinking Water Week is an annual celebration organized by the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the professional association of the water industry. This weeklong event encourages water utilities and the communities they serve to join together in recognizing the vital role clean, safe drinking water plays in our daily lives.
